To obtain her law degree, Juleigh Sitton attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. UNC has a highly regarded law program that provided her with an outstanding education. On the UNC School of Law website, they describe their program as so:
“UNC School of Law was founded in 1845 and is part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the nation's first state-supported university. The school has been approved by the American Bar Association since 1928. Carolina Law prepares outstanding lawyers and leaders to serve the people and institutions of North Carolina, the nation and the world. Home to numerous centers and initiatives, the school offers strong expertise in civil rights, banking, environmental law, intellectual property, entrepreneurial and securities law, critical studies, bankruptcy and constitutional inquiry.” And just like Juleigh Sitton, UNC Law students exemplify the qualities laid out in the UNC School of Law’s mission statement: “UNC School of Law aspires to be a great public law school. Toward this end, it pursues a fourfold mission: To prepare outstanding lawyers and leaders for the bar, the bench, all public and private law settings and public service, to make nationally and internationally significant legal and policy contributions through an ambitious agenda of research and scholarship, To instill lifelong ethical values, dedication to the cause of justice and a lasting commitment to pro bono and public service and To serve the legal profession, the people and institutions of North Carolina, the nation and the world.”

Juleigh Sitton is the Municipal Attorney for the Town of Fontana Dam, North Carolina. The Town of Fontana Dam has a short, albeit interesting history that spans for nearly a quarter-century. The town, however, itself has only been incorporated for about four of those years. As told by a news article in the Smoky Mountain News in June of 2011:
“It took community unity and a concerted push to get the incorporation approved by the General Assembly. That vote followed literally years of efforts, said Mack Tallent, a lawyer in nearby Robbinsville who has been handling the town’s legal matters. Tallent believes Fontana Dam’s unusual circumstances — being on federal Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) lands — gave legislators pause. Unusual it might be, but the situation is not unheard of: Tallent pointed out that there are military bases in the eastern part of North Carolina where municipalities can be found, like Fontana Dam, situated on federal land holdings. Craig Litz, one of the town’s newly appointed interim council members, said the option for Fontana Dam to be a township was contained in original land leases with TVA. It just took this many years to actually make that happen.” Juleigh Sitton is just one of the few staff members in the town’s government, as there are only so many professionals needed to govern a town whose population is in the double digits; and low ones, at that. Juleigh Sitton loves to travel, and she loves spending time with her daughter. Those two passions came together as her daughter got older, and started wanting to do some more traveling of her own. And through her, Juleigh has been inspired to follow in her path and meet in exciting paces so the two can explore new regions of the world together. Currently a student of the University of North Carolina, just like her mother was, Juleigh’s daughter plans on working abroad next year, which is a job perk that Juleigh looks to cash in on herself. Juleigh Sitton plans to meet with her daughter in Spain after she moves over there to teach English. She is excited to explore the northern and central parts of the country, as her and her daughter have been there before and explored other parts of Spain. There are lots to do in Spain; one can tour vineyards and olive farms, explore the many historical art museums in Madrid and Seville, dance the night away at many of the exciting nightlife areas or just even soak up the sun at one of the country’s many breathtaking beaches. In terms of nature, Spain has just about everything one could ask for. There are just as many beautiful beaches are there are exciting hikes throughout the mountainous regions of the country. And with all that walking, there are plenty of tapas bars open to get in the shade for a midday snack. |
